October has seen a slew of costume historical releases in Chinese dramaland with shows such as The Rise of Ning, Kill Me Love Me, Snowy Night Timeless Love. Likewise, iQiyi’s Fangs of Fortune has also just begun to air. With November just around the corner, things are already looking promising with two more new dramas with potential to become big hits (just my opinion) which will be out November 1st.
Both dramas star popular young actresses and if you hadn’t already guessed, I’m talking about Esther Yu Shuxin’s Love Game in Eastern Fantasy set to air on Tencent and Zhao Lusi’s The Story of Pearl Girl on Youku. Between Love Between Fairy and Devil and My Journey to You, Esther sure has been hitting it out of the ballpark with her recent projects what with both being popular with audiences. Dare we say she’s got herself another winner with Love Game in Eastern Fantasy? Zhao Lusi too is no slouch. With popular shows such as Love Like the Galaxy and Hidden Love, expectations of Pearl Girl doing well amongst audiences is pretty high.
Love Game in Eastern Fantasy 永夜星河
If you fancy a fantasy series where the protagonist is sucked into a monster-hunting book, this might be the show for you. Based on the popular novel The Guide to Capturing a Black Lotus, Esther’s newest drama has her pairing up with her Moonlight co-star Ryan Ding Yuxi – her third pairing with the actor yet.
The transmigration themed series also features Bambi Zhu Xudan and Yang Shize as the second lead couple.
The Story of Pearl Girl 珠帘玉幕
Zhao Lusi reinvents herself in this costume historical, from a simple pearl diver she transforms herself into the strong-willed and tenacious Su Muzhe to achieve her dream of making it big in the jewellery business. The 25-year-old actress reunites with her The Long Ballad co-star Liu Yuning in this one, making this their second drama working together.

Will be catching Pearl Girl for LYN. He looks good. Have yet to watch any of Esther’s dramas so that one will be a pass too.
