Love in the Clouds Becomes Youku’s First Xianxia Drama to Break 10,000 Heat Index in 2025

Love in the Clouds (入青云) real-time heat index on Youku has just surged from 9999 to 10,014, becoming the platform’s first xianxia drama of 2025 to break the 10,000 mark. For a relatively slow year for Chinese dramas, it’s certainly worth celebrating especially since this didn’t have huge traffic stars.

While still filming on set for another drama, actor Hou Minghao checked the live data on his phone. The moment he saw the number pass 10,000, he ran around the set cheering. Staff captured the spontaneous moment, and netizens called it “a genuine burst of emotion.” Love in the Clouds marked his third Youku drama to surpass the 10,000 threshold, following Back From the Brink and Dashing Youth. After the milestone, he posted, “Zai Zai loves you all. Having you is the greatest happiness…” promising to do a viral dance as thank-you.

Co-star Lu Yuxiao also expressed her gratitude, writing, “Wahhh thank you so much! Love ‘Love in the Clouds,’ love you all! So grateful that we’ve been seen by you.” While Lu Yuxiao has transitioned from second lead to leading roles after My Journey to You, her recent projects such as Serendipity drew a lot of flak and she was criticized for not having what it takes as the leading lady. Meanwhile, singer-actor Hou Minghao was often dismissed as just a “pretty face” but with his recent dramas like I Am Nobody and now this, it’s a win for both leads. The buzz around the drama has led to calls for Hou Minghao and Lu Yuxiao to reunite soon, some even suggesting a remake of My Lucky Star where they’d play the roles of Jimmy Lin and Yoo Hana.
