Provocative and spicy scenes prevail in the recently released trailer of Neo Hou Minghao and Lu Yuxiao’s upcoming collab Love in the Clouds 入青云. The Youku series marks Lu Yuxiao’s first big female lead casting in a fantasy romance (xianxia) after catching her big break playing Shangguan Qian – the second female lead in the 2023 hit series My Journey to You. Love in the Clouds will definitely remind you of the show with all the layers of deceit and intrigue between our two protagonists who also adapt fake personalities to reach an objective.
Lu Yuxiao’s character Ming Yi transforms herself into a dancer to get close to the seemingly foppish dandy Ji Bozai (Hou Minghao). In reality though, these two are so much more than meets the eye. Ming Yi is actually the seasoned and ruthless “war god” whose seven victories at the Qingyun Conference are legendary. After getting poisoned, she turns herself into an alluring dancer in order to get her hands on the antidote in Ji Bozai’s possession. Meanwhile, Ji Bozai too is far from what he seems. After defeating the legendary Ming Yi, he instantly becomes a huge star overnight. He later adapts a foppish playboy persona with an ultimate goal in mind.
Judging from the multitude of kissing scenes sprinkled into the trailer, it appears Ming Yi might have successfully lured Ji Bozai in with her wiles. Whether it’s also an act on his part is the question. As the two subtly clash wits, will they cross the thin line between fake and real love?
Love in the Clouds is adapted from Bai Lu Cheng Shuang’s novel of the same name.
