The much-anticipated second season of Flourished Peony is indeed coming to the small screen just half a year later. It looks like the new title In the Name of Blossom (锦绣芳华) has indeed helped the drama circumvent the one year rule in between Chinese dramas with multiple seasons. Set to premiere on June 30, 2025, season 2 will be building on the dramatic ending of the first season.
In Flourished Peony, Yang Zi’s character He Weifang had “pretended” to marry Li Xian’s character Jiang Changyang for the sake of survival. In the Name of Blossom picks up with the couple living under one roof, gradually developing deeper feelings for each other. It’s bound to get more intense and along with emotionally charged scenes are higher stakes. He Weifang gets to know the real “Jiang Changyang” beneath his free-spirited facade, pulling the couple into court struggles.
Meanwhile, Yang Zi’s ex-husband Liu Chang, played by Wei Zheming, takes a dark turn in season two. After everything he’s been through forced to marry Zhang Yaqin’s character, he’s no longer the man he once was,. It’ll be interesting to see the actor who often plays the good guy transform into what may turn out to be a full-blown villain.
Produced by Huace Media and directed by Ding Ziguang with writer Zhang Yuan’ang, In the Name of Blossom joins the growing list of C-dramas competing for viewers this summer 2025. Aside from the currently airing A Dream with a Dream and The Princess’s Gambit, other stars due for a comeback to the small screen include Dilraba’s Sword and Rose, Zhao Lusi’s Love’s Ambition, Moonlit Reunion and more.
