
Nezha 2 has been a pretty unstoppable force on the box office since its release on January 29. As of today, the film has smashed the previous record set by The Battle of Lake Changjin, raking in a WHOPPING RMB 5.9 billion in ticket sales during the Chinese New Year, making it the number one top-grossing film of all time in China. Nezha 2 has even surpassed its predecessor Nezha, which grossed RMB 5.035 billion. That’s quite an incredible feat for the animated franchise!
Nezha 3 Will Challenge Their Limits
With excitement building up for the next film in the Nezha franchise, the pressure is definitely on for its director. In a report from the Chinese Film Channel, the film’s director Jiaozi said the box office result is both a motivation and added pressure. When the first film came out, they were able to surprise audiences because there was little expectation. Given both film’s current success, there are now too many expectations it has become a burden. Nonetheless, he said it is also serving to push them harder.
As for Nezha 3, he said there’re a million things to worry about that it’s worrying. However he emphasised that himself and his team have always treated each project as if it were their last work. Although everyone’s skills and abilities have surely grown with all the challenges that have gone their way, the next one will definitely challenge their new limits.
