Rosy Zhao Lusi has come a long way since entering showbiz in her debut drama Untouchable Lovers in 2017. I realized I’ve watched most of her early dramas, including Oh! My Emperor (it had Xiao Zhan in his early days too!). Her onscreen pairing with Li Hongyi was fire, as seen in their back-to-back dramas Prodigy Healer and Love Better Than Immortality. Back then, the young actess conquered the sphere of small “web dramas”, but her career really took off in 2020 with The Romance of Tiger and Rose. This drama seemed to be the launching pad she needed to secure high-profile roles, starting with a second lead role in The Long Ballad to headlining hits like Love Like the Galaxy and Hidden Love.
Not only is her star on the rise, but the 25-year-old actress is also looking more beautiful and polished. She received a lot of positive feedback on her outfits in Love’s Ambition, but her changing appearance also sparked plastic surgery rumors. Some netizens claim she has changed so much that she’s almost unrecognizable. In a recent live broadcast, Zhao Lusi addressed these changes, attributing them to hard work.
She said, “Who doesn’t want to be more and more beautiful and keep getting better, right? So I feel like I’ve accumulated some of my own experiences. This year, a lot of people see me and say, ‘Oh Lusi, you became beautiful,’ or felt, ‘Lusi, you lost weight again, you got fairer.’ So I feel like little by little it’s my growth, and includes the results of hard work, so I’m quite happy.”

I’m afraid I have to agree. It’s a shame that natural looks are no longer prized, and artificial, plastic looks from surgery are regarded as beautiful. Instead of looking unique, she now looks generic, and she is now on a long path to plastic surgery maintenance. I wonder how she will look as she ages.

Uhmm…this cannot be achieved with just weight loss. There are definitely small tweaks here and there to refine her face. She looks great though.

I thought her look was so cute and different. It’s so sad that she did that to herself. I always think how sometimes a person took after a mom or dad’s look with certain features and it made them unique. When you look at them and you know they are family. Everyone said I look like my mom. I think she would be very sad if I get plastic surgery and change my look.

People were critical of her when they thought she was chubby. Now, their critical when she’s lost weight and been working on herself. She probably got tired of hearing it. She’s 25, she’s changing her look as a young woman. Isn’t that what all critics of her wanted!!! Such negative people!

I guess I can identify with this after I lost weight and people accused me of some of the same.
Why can’t people just work on their self and congratulate people who have. We all have that option.

I think people in general may be confusing plastic surgery with aeasthetics enhancements that don’t involve surgery. I’m not an injector, but I live in an area where aesthetics is so common and popular that everyone talks about it openly and shares what they’ve had done.
In addition to her signficant weight loss, which does affect how prominent your facial features show up (speaking from personal experience–my jaw/cheekbones got really defined when I leaned out and my nose oddly looks smaller, too), I think she’s had filler to her nose to raise the tip and straighten out the bridge a bit (hence why it’s more prominent, especially from a side profile, but at the same time looks “smaller”); kybella, RF, or HIFU to melt the fat along her jawline and under her chin, a bit of chin filler to sharpen and project it forward; maybe even a little bit of filler along her jawline; and, of course, lip filler.
I’m only a casual watcher of her dramas, but I follow drama news and releases a lot, and I just don’t think she would have had time to get plastic surgery because of how long it takes to recover, even for small procedures. Fillers, however, only need a couple of days of recovery at most, and that’s only if you swell or bruise.
Anyway, I thought she was cute before, a little generic looking now, but still pretty and recognizable. Most people who get filler tend to overdo it at first and then eventually settle for more subtle results.
