Some updates for Tencent’s wuxia romance series Generation to Generation 江湖夜雨十年灯 which recently wrapped four months of filming. It is adapted from the novel of the same name by Guanxinzeluan whose novel adaptations The Story of Minglan and Love Like the Galaxy were huge hits. This will be another costume historical led by The Land of Warriors star Zhou Yiran opposite Bao Shangen, who’s no stranger to the wuxia genre as the newest Huang Rong.
Generation to Generation tells the story of the love-hate relationship between the cunning young master Mu Qingyan and the female disciple Cai Zhao who possesses a relaxed and even temperament. Faced with the challenges of a treacherous and constantly changing world, the two are forced to work together to unmask the real intent of certain individuals in the martial arts world … but not without clashing in a constant battle of wills.
Zhou Yiran who plays Mu Qingyan is shown in a blue robe looking to be deep in thought, whilst the teaser shows another side to his character as diabolic and black-bellied. Bao Shangen as Cai Zhao looks very much the part of the martial arts heroine. The ensemble cast includes Yu Jiacheng who plays Song Yuzhi, Fan Jingyi portraying Qi Lingbo, Bian Tianyang as Fan Xingjia, Duan Yu as Yang Xiaolan, and Yan Yuchen as Dai Fengchi. There’s a long list of special stars such as Yuan Wenkang, Jing Chao, Sheng Yilun, veteran Hong Kong actor Paul Che, Wan Peng, etc. Blossom fans will be happy to see Li Yunrui also makes a special guest appearance playing Mu Zhengming/Mu Zhengyang.
