It seems like Chinese actor and model Xu Kai has found his groove playing the domineering boss in modern dramas. In his most recent collab with Seven Tan Songyun, the 29-year-old plays the overbearing CEO Han Ting. Born with a silver spoon and groomed to take over his family’s company, he is ambitious and focused. Meanwhile, Xu Kai’s other urban drama opposite Yang Zi which also aired this 2024 saw him portray company president Yao Zhiming.
He’s the Swoon-worthy CEO
In both dramas, Xu Kai initially comes off as the successful businessman. Yet underneath the seemingly cold and ruthless demeanor, him turning out to be a warm and loving partner soon had viewers swooning over his character. Of course, his adorable smile might have also played a role, especially when the actor who’s over six feet (187cm to be exact) is all dressed up in a suit and tie. In Tan Songyun and Yang Zi’s case, the chemistry from both their pairings with Xu Kai was also so palpable it leaves no doubt as to why viewers practically ate it all up despite the similar storylines going on.
Xu Kai’s 4 Modern Dramas
As many of you know, Xu Kai has starred in a number of costume historicals, having started out with a breakout role as Fuca Fuheng in Story of Yanxi Palace. It’s not as often we see him signing on for modern ones. In fact, in recent years he’s appeared in four: aside from As Beautiful As You and Best Choice Ever, both workplace romances in the medtech and hotel industry, respectively, with the latter also being a family drama, Xu Kai’s previous modern dramas also include She and Her Perfect Husband in 2022 and the e-sports themed Falling Into Your Smile back in 2021. Nonetheless, he seems quite at home playing the domineering CEO types who are cold on the outside but warm and caring on the inside.

My favorites performances of him are “Story of Yanxi Palace” and “As Beautiful As You”. He is definitely moving up on my favorite actors list after ABAY. 👍

Off the subject! Is it possible that you can put the articles’ titles below the pictures – NOT over them? The way you are doing these articles now are so distracting and annoying. I think they don’t attract the readers in the positive way. Thanks.

Isn’t it normal to start any story/article/piece of writing with a title? It’s the title which makes clear the context and topic to be dealt with, like a generic artist picture never could. She could have used that same picture for any article written about Xu Kai, whereas the title is unique to this one story. So it’s the title that should come first.

@Adnana
You misunderstood me already – when you go to this website (before you open/click on them) some of their articles will have the pictures and then the titles right on TOP of the pictures (stacking/layers). The wordings will be covering the pictures. Often times you can’t see the faces because of that. Does it make to you? For examples like the top two articles right now.
