Ever since producer Wang Yixu revealed that his production company Stellar will be working on the live-action for three Fox Spirit Matchmaker 狐妖小红娘 arcs that include Yue Hong 月红篇, Zhu Ye 竹业篇 and Huang Quan 皇权篇, there’s been a lot of anticipation on who will play the leads.
Given that Yue Hong starring Yang Mi and Gong Jun wrapped last year, attention has turned to Zhu Ye which previously announced Yang Mi’s good friend and former Chinese Paladin 3 co-star Cecilia Liu Shishi as the female lead Dongfang Huaizhu. Her leading man has been a mystery until recently when filming quietly kicked off to reveal that Leon Zhang Yunlong is playing Wangquan Baye.
Wang Yixu just took to his social media to give a sneak peak of the two leads during their costume pictorial. Liu Shishi comes back to the historical genre in not one but two dramas in wuxia series A Journey to Love which wrapped early this year, and the currently filming Fox Spirit Matchmaker adaptation. While there’s some contention over her leading man, the fact that this will be another one from from the producers of the hit drama Love Between Fairy and Devil is quite promising. Now the question that remains is who will be the stars of the Huang Quan arc?
