Since the pandemic hit in 2020, you may have noticed that there’s barely any news about Tiffany Tang Yan’s new projects. That’s because the actress made a conscious decision to cut back on work temporarily to spend more time with her daughter who’s growing up so fast.
Staying Present for Those Milestones
In a recent interview with media, Tang Yan confirmed that she hasn’t been back to work for four years already. Unlike her contemporaries Liu Shishi and Zhao Liying who are also mums with toddlers themselves but are back in front of the cameras, the actress has opted instead to spend more time with her and hubby Luo Jin’s little girl.
Tang Yan said that living through a pandemic has made her cherish her life more in the past three years. “Of course work is very important. But you must also devote time and energy to your family and to living your life.” She said that she knows that she’ll be back to living in a fast-paced work environment soon enough and that the moments she gets to see her child growing up is rare. “Once work resumes, there’ll hardly be any or little time to spend with my daughter. She’s growing quickly. If you miss those moments, they’re gone. You’re lucky enough if you get to witness those moments.”
Tiffany Tang Yan married her husband Luo Jin back in 2018 after meeting on the set of Princess Weiyoung. Notorious about their privacy, the couple didn’t announce they were pregnant until September 2019. When Tang Yan finally gave birth to their daughter, the couple opted to keep the news private. It wasn’t until summer of 2020 that she finally confirmed she had given birth to a baby girl.

I, for one, don’t miss her onscreen. until her company can pick better projects for her, it’s just one pathetic role after another. can’t remember the last time I felt any excitement for her character. I don’t think I can forgive how badly wei young was butchered.

I would think she is free of any contract if she is able to choose not to work for 4 years already. Anyway, I support her choice. When both husband and wife are in the fast paced entertainment industry, one of them definitely has to slow down quite a bit to be with the children. Especially acting, as each project would probably take them away from home for 3 or 4 months. Otherwise, the kids would not be much different from orphans, albeit rich ones.

Princess Weiyoung was thoroughly enjoyable and without her the drama would have been a failure. Her beauty alone saved the series. Of course the male characters were equally well chosen to balance out the female characters.

Honestly this is the best decision for her and their family. Think about actresses and friends around Tiffany’s age who have seen different predicament. For example, compare Yang mi (her bff years ago) and Tiffany: both have successful careers, actor husbands , and a child. Yang mi’s marriage fell apart (for whatever reasons she & her husband are entitled to) and she was notorious for not being a part of her child’s life because she choose WORK over family. Nothing wrong with Yang mi’s choice but it obviously negatively impacted her family relationships. Obviously Tiffany married much later than Yang mi & she probably realized that she did not want the same predicament as Yang mi for her family. There were many actresses who fell in the same boat as Yang mi so she isn’t really the only one (ex: Zanila ZLY & Angelababy).
