On July 12, Taiwanese rock band Mayday wrapped up the final night of their 25th anniversary concert tour at the Taipei Dome with a legendary surprise: Taiwan’s OG F4 from the Meteor Garden franchise have reunited onstage for the first time in 12 years! Since disbanding in 2009, F4 only came together once for a performance at the 2013 Spring Festival Gala in China.
Mayday × F4 Crossover
As the opening notes of Meteor Rain filled the dome, it’s no wonder the crowd of 40,000 erupted into screams, turning the concert venue into a karaoke party as everyone sang along to the lyrics they knew so well. It was certainly a nostalgia moment as the four members Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Vanness Wu, and Ken Chu, now in their mid‑to-late forties, took the stage together, performing their hit song.
F4 also joined Mayday for a special duet of The Song of Laughter and Forgetting. Vic Chou said he’s a shy fan of Mayday, while Jerry Yan got teary-eyed as he thanked Mayday’s Ashin and their team for making the reunion possible. Vanness Wu helped Jerry put on his in-ear monitors, subtly quashing rumors about tension between them. Ken Chu lightheartedly admitted to playing dumb in recent interviews to keep the reunion a secret: “I kept saying I didn’t know anything. Now I can finally stop pretending!”
Hopes for a F4 Comeback Tour
While the reunion was a guest appearance, fans are now buzzing about the possibility of a full F4 comeback tour in 2026. After all, it had seemed like a reunion wasn’t happening when Ken Chu had said on livestream that he’s never the first to reject an F4 project — and also not the last to agree — and admits the four rarely keep in touch. Vic Chou had stressed he wants any reunion to be “meaningful, not just about cashing in.” But if this appearance proves anything, perhaps it’s not too much to hope for a concert tour?
