Sword and Rose: Dilraba Dilmurat Returns in 2025 Crime Drama About Human Trafficking

Dilraba Dilmurat returns to the small screens with her upcoming crime drama Sword and Rose 利剑·玫瑰 after a two year hiatus. The drama is eyeing a summer 2025 release on the Tencent and iQiyi streaming platforms. [UPDATE: Sword Rose premieres on July 28, 2025.]

For her comeback piece, Reba steps into the shoes of a policewoman named Deng Yan who was unexpectedly promoted into the anti-tracking team through her efforts to investigate the death of her boyfriend who was a drug enforcement officer. Together with Under the Skin star Jin Shijia who plays police captain Chang Rui, the drama aims to shed light into a very real problem governments are facing today.

Sword and Rose Synopsis

After the mysterious death of her boyfriend, Deng Yan hopes to join the anti-drug enforcement team to investigate. However when her heroic actions saving a baby during a hostage operation put her in the spotlight, she was unexpectedly promoted to lead the anti-trafficking team.

Deng Yan eventually earns the respect of her skeptical team with her deductive skills, decisive actions and willingness to put her life in the line as they clash wits with cunning criminals.  As they continue to make arrests and overcoming challenges such as tampered evidence, false statements, suspensions and even hired assassins, they uncover a network of criminals including someone close to home.

With the issue of human-trafficking growing even more prevalent –even Chinese actor Wang Xing fell prey to traffickers after being lured by the promise of an acting job overseas in January, it appears Sword and Rose takes on the unofficial “role” of raising public awareness on how folks can keep themselves from falling prey. To make the stories even more realistic, the crew revealed they consulted with dozens of front-line police officers and even observed closely at crime scenes to get the story as close to the truth as possible. Reba’s character Deng Yan is actually modeled after a real life officer.

Aside from Sword and Rose, Dilraba Dilmurat has two more dramas that are yet to hit the screens. There’s Love on the Turquoise Land and Love Beyond the Grave.
