Blossoms of Power Cast: Meng Ziyi Reunites with He Yu, Jeremy Xu Zhengxi Returns from “Retirement”

Fresh from the success of her pairing with Li Yunrui in last December’s popular hit Blossom, Meng Ziyi is back with another similarly titled costume historical called Blossoms of Power 百花杀. The actress reunites with her Blossom co-star He Yu whom you might remember briefly appeared as the younger version of the emperor in the show. This time though, the 28-year-old actor is all set to step into the shoes of the leading man. Meng Ziyi and He Yu had also played an onscreen couple in The Legend of Heroes: Nine Yin True Sutra.

He Yu just wrapped Speed and Love with Esther Yu Shuxin. This is also Meng Ziyi’s first drama after her breakout as a female lead, so Blossoms of Power could potentially be another success. The cast was officially announced, and the big surprise is seeing Jeremy Xu Zhengxi as a special invited star.

Jeremy Xu Zhengxi Returns to Acting After a Year-Long Hiatus

It looks like Xu Zhengxi aka Jeremy Tsui just ended his “retirement” from showbiz. He was all smiles attending the opening ceremony for Blossoms of Power. The 39-year-old actor had taken a year-long break to care for his ailing father. He shared that the past year brought him two major blessings: being able to spend precious time with his parents, and receiving the script for the drama, which led to his return to set. Visibly emotional, he described his return to Hengdian as one of the happiest moments of his life.

Familiar Faces Join the Cast

They’re joined by a pretty big cast including Fan Shuaiqi, Lai Weiming, Lin Ziye, Dong Zifan, and more. Other invited stars include Ye Zuxin and Snow Kong, with special appearances by Peter Ho, Zhang Yao, and Zhang Junning, plus friendly appearances from Gao Weiguang, Yumiko Cheng, Chen Heyi, Qiu Xinzhi, Tian Lei, and Eden Zhao Zhiwei.

In Blossoms of Power, He Yu plays a sickly crown prince hiding sharp wit and ambition. Meng Ziyi is a perfume master. Sent to marry him, they join forces and fall in love along the way.
