Producer Weighs in on Why Wang Yibo Hasn’t Had New Acting Projects Lately

Since the release of his Republican spy drama War of Faith a year ago, Wang Yibo has been noticeably absent from showbiz. With so many of his fans waiting for news about his next project, industry insider Lao Gao recently weighed in on why Wang Yibo hasn’t had any new acting projects lately.

Simply put, Wang Yibo has been busy enjoying the fruits of his hard work and pursuing his many other passions such as car racing, rock climbing and hiking the great outdoors for his wildlife adventure show. But that doesn’t mean that offers for acting projects have dried up. After all, his commercial value remains high as he continues to have fashion week appearances and many endorsements. On the contrary, he’s just been more selective over what new projects to sign up for, focusing instead on selecting quality scripts and playing characters that have good development.

For someone who had his beginnings as a traffic star, Yibo has been lucky enough to reach a point in his career that he’s popular enough that he can choose what he wants to work on instead of blindly accepting projects for the sake of exposure. And since Lao Gao estimates Yibo contributes 75% to his agency Yuehua Entertainment’s income, this puts him in the position to have more power over his choices. So on the contrary, he hasn’t fallen out of favour, he’s probably just busy being young and living life before getting back to work hard once again on new acting projects.
