Wang Yibo is back with a brand-new show that takes him far beyond the stage and screen, deep into the wild. His first outdoor exploration documentary, Exploring the Unknown with Wang Yibo (探索新境), produced by Discovery Channel, has hit 18,000 heat index within its first 55 minutes, thus setting a new record for Tencent Video documentaries.
Known for his sporty persona, the 27-year-old Chinese star is not just an amazing dancer, but also a motorcycle racer and skateboarder. This time, Wang Yibo has taken on a completely different adventure. The show offers a raw look at him, bare-faced and without the glitz and glamour of showbiz, as he treks through the rainforest to experience nature.
In a particularly intense segment, Wang Yibo encountered leeches, getting bitten three times as he entered the jungle. Despite the initial shock, he remained composed, even sharing that he didn’t feel pain while the blood-swollen leeches were pulled off his leg one at a time. Thankfully, they found an herbal remedy called “jiujie,” a plant that typically grows where leeches are which can be used to treat the bites.
Many were amazed to see Wang Yibo in the face of unexpected challenges and also his willingness to dive into new and unfamiliar experiences. Exploring the Unknown with Wang Yibo is currently airing on Tencent Video.
