Love of the Divine Tree (仙台有树), starring Deng Wei in his first lead role, has finally announced its premiere date: February 7, 2025 on iQIYI. Directed by Yin Tao, this xianxia series is a contender to be the next hit in the historical genre. Just from the teaser, it’s dramatic! Plot and Premise
Deng Wei plays Su Yishui, a cultivator with a tragic fate. Branded as a demon and forced to endure unimaginable pain, Su Yishui eventually transforms from a cold, guarded youth into a man who learns about love and sacrifice. At the heart of the drama is Su Yishui’s complicated relationship with his master, Mu Qingge, portrayed by Xiang Hanzhi. Their bond takes a shocking turn when betrayal and fate drive them apart, only for their destinies to intertwine across lifetimes with reversed roles when she becomes his disciple.
Speculation and Career “Hiatus”
Deng Wei’s prolonged “hiatus” has sparked plenty of speculation. After his breakout role in Lost You Forever, which aired its second season in 2024, he filmed another second lead role before landing his first lead in Love of the Divine Tree, which wrapped in February 2024. Although he has secured several endorsements since rising to fame, some wondered about possible contract issues or whether his long absence when it comes to new acting projects is due to his insistence on accepting only lead roles.
