Lost You Forever truly was career changing for actor Deng Wei who went from a moderately known actor to a big star. And it’s all thanks to him playing Tushan Jing in the series. A year later, the 29-year-old reflects on how this development has impacted his outlook and his mindset as an actor.
Deng Wei describes his rising popularity as “quite a big change actually” and says he hopes to improve himself. “That’s coz I want to play many different roles and then be able to translate them well to everyone.” By trying out different roles, he hopes to surprise audiences with never been seen sides of himself.
Justice for Deng Wei and Tu Shanjing?
As you know, the sequel to the show has just finished its run. Despite the expected ending, fans of Deng Wei and Tu Shanjing are salty over what they claim to be production’s unfair and poor treatment of both the actor and his character in season 2.
Take that pivotal episode where we all thought Tu Shanjing dies at sea. It turns out Deng Wei braved the 40 degree heat to travel back and forth to their filming location for three days. Then when he was in the water, his lips were practically blue from the cold. Behind the scenes footage showed the actor even shivering in the water but he still insisted they continue to shoot. And guess what, all that effort (in poor conditions mind you) only to see it cut down to three seconds. Adding more salt to the wound, you can’t even see his face coz it’s blurry! No wonder his fans are crying foul, and some even called it “workplace bullying”.
Likewise, fans also have beef with how Tu Shanjing’s character was shortchanged. “Why did they treat Tu Shanjing like this?” Fans claim the script pretty much cut out the core of his character and all the parts that reflected his intelligence and wisdom was shifted to other characters. It’s unfair they claim and the reason why they’re calling for justice for both Deng Wei and his character.

I do think that his character became a damsel in season 2. In the novel, Jing is very intelligent. No idea why the production butchered his character the way they did. 💀

Such a shame…huge shame to a potential good drama.. I cannot understand from a producer, artistic sense… I really cannot.

because they need to condense everything into 20 episodes,sacrifices need to be done,besides Deng Wei can’t act,underact compare to Zhang wanyi. they also change, cut scenes for Zhang wanyi making his character less impactful,i mean it was suppose to be him,who kill tushan jing not xinyue.his good acting save the day.

Zhang Wan Yi is a good actor and he had the most screen time in LYF2 out of all of them. They put DW (TSJ) through all that like this article said and they only used 3 seconds for all his work for that. That was awful. I bet you would not say that if happened to your idol/favorite, whoever that is.

Thank you. Some people will say anything for their favorites. I believe in fairness – he is kind of a newer actor and it showed they didn’t respect his hard work and effort
