Back in March, Bai Jingting and Zhang Ruonan were spotted on the set of First Frost 难哄, the sister drama of 2023’s summer’s hit Hidden Love where they’ll play Sang Yan – Sang Zhi’s brother, and Wen Yifan. It’s another one from Wajijiwa and Youku, who were behind Hidden Love. Fans of the story will be pleased to know that the characters of Duan Jiaxu and Sang Zhi will still appear in the spin-off albeit in supporting roles though none of the previous cast reprise their roles. Zhao Lusi and Chen Zheyuan‘s characters will be portrayed by Wu Yuheng and Liu Chutian instead.
Aside from the drama’s main leads, the series also confirmed the rest of the artists making up its casting line-up. Taiwanese actor Edward Chen Hao-sen, known for the BL film Your Name Engraved Herein, forays into Chinese dramas as second male lead Su Haoan with cutesy actress Zhang Miaoyi as his love interest Zhong Siqiao. Actor Yuan Ye will also be appearing as Mu Chengyun whilst Zhai Xiaowen takes a special starring role as Xiang Lang.
The First Frost has also wrapped filming activities so we’ll just have to patiently wait for a little bit longer. In the meantime, check out the new posters put out by the drama for a glimpse of the characters.

I’m looking forward to this show, but as much as I like JingTing, I think they should have kept the cast used in Hidden Love. I can’t see anyone able to replace Zhao LuSi as that character. I hope they are good enough to do it right becUSE I love the characters.
