The two leads of The Early Spring have been soaring in popularity following the success of their drama, especially Jing Boran, whom many say has returned to his level of fame ten years ago as he is hounded by droves of fans wherever he goes.

It’s Not His First Time in the Spotlight

While new fans might not be aware, the established actor was already in the spotlight as a teen, winning a talent competition and eventually forming idol duo BOBO with Fu Xinbo. Years later, he stepped in as the leading man of the 2015 film Monster Hunt, a mega box office hit in China and also achieved success in the 2024 drama Regeneration.

Given that he’s having another career breakthrough with The Early Spring, everything about the 37-year-old actor has been trending lately from his past and current relationships to various rumors. It has prompted Jing Boran to issue clarifications such as saying that he and his mom have a good relationship, thereby debunking viral rumors that he was abandoned as an infant at 28 days old and had to work as a child laborer. He also said that he did not have plastic surgery. He explained his double eyelids now are the result of his skin “loosening” as he ages and that working long hours causes him to have deeper double eyelids, occasionally, triple eyelids.

Jing Boran’s Supermodel Girlfriend Liu Wen Likes His Post

Jing Boran’s current girlfriend is known to be Chinese supermodel Liu Wen. The two have been dating for several years and have kept their relationship relatively low-key. However, Liu Wen recently liking one of Jing Boran’s posts, has ignited discussion on social media. The actor posted photos of himself to promote The Early Spring and Liu Wen was among those who liked his post. This angered some fans who are deeply invested in the drama, saying that it’s ruining their immersion in the onscreen romance.

Many felt that Liu Wen indeed tried to tone down her presence with Jing Boran’s new drama airing. She was reportedly on the same flight as him several times, but deliberately walked separately at the airport to avoid appearing together in photos and taking attention away from the drama, earning her praise as “the most considerate celebrity girlfriend in the Chinese entertainment industry.” Many also defended that it’s perfectly normal for Liu Wen to support her boyfriend by liking his post.

Some extreme fans left comments hoping that the celebrity couple breakup, even going as far as to launch personal attacks targeting Liu Wen’s appearance, body, and age, and wishing that Jing Boran end up with The Early Spring co-star Sun Qian. Nevertheless, majority of comments left for Liu Wen seem more supportive, telling her to ignore the haters.

In The Early Spring, Jing Boran plays Luan Nian aka Luke, a sharp-tongued corporate executive. Interestingly, the actor was responsible for the male lead’s wardrobe, bringing in designer clothing from his own collection to the shoot. Furthermore, the titles that appear for each episode were actually revealed to be the actor’s handwriting. As it turns out, Jing Boran’s handwriting is quite popular. Back in 2015, while appearing on the variety show Divas Hit the Road 2, his calligraphy won over numerous fans. That same year, he collaborated with a company to have his very own font, available for use.
