It’s been a couple of years since we last saw Li Xian and Li Yitong on screen together in 2019’s Sword Dynasty. If you enjoyed watching their chemistry in the costume historical series, the pair are back together again with their second collab, a brand new Republican drama titled Chang Feng Qi 长风起 which held their boot ceremony today, May 1.
Visually speaking both actors appear to be quite well matched. Whereas Li Yitong has been paired with several swoon-worthy leading men in many of her projects, Li Xian has had quite successful onscreen pairings with his female co-stars such as Liu Yifei in Meet Yourself and his recent collab with his good friend and Go Go Squid! co-star Yang Zi in Flourished Peony.
As in Sword Dynasty, Li Xian and Li Yitong will once again play the lead couple in the series, telling the love-hate relationship between the rich male protagonist Shangguan Chengming and the woman from the opera troupe Jiang Feiyan who join forces to get to the bottom of the bizarre deaths of his family members who are killed off one by one.
Originally titled Jiang Xiang 江相, the series is adapted from Yi Zhi’s novel “Wo Shi Ge Suanming Xiansheng”( 我是个算命先生) which literally translates to I Am a Fortune Teller. The casting line up also features appearances by Wu Guang, Liu Guanlin, Guo Jinglin, Hai Yitian, Liang Tian, Yue Yang, Yang Yiwei, Zhang Jingwei and Zhang Xiaoqian.
