Love in Pavilion 淮水竹亭 is the next in the Fox Spirit Matchmaker universe to make its way to the the small screens. The fantasy series, which stars the ever graceful Cecilia Liu Shishi and Leon Zhang Yunlong was supposed to have already aired a couple of weeks earlier, but it looks like it was pushed back to make way for The Demon Hunter’s Romance. Now that they’ve finally secured a new release date for April 28, 2025, fans of the series will no doubt be pleased.
Love in Pavilion
Love in Pavilion marks the first time pairing between Liu Shishi and Zhang Yunlong. As Dongfang Huaizhu, Liu Shishi’s character is eldest daughter of the powerful Dongfang clan, a family of divine fire. She is born with amazing spiritual powers and bears the divine mark on her forehead. Meanwhile, Zhang Yunlong’s Wangquan Hongye is not only the head of the Wangquan family, as the leader of the “mask’ organisation, he also has in his possession a powerful weapon.
Just like Yang Mi’s Red-Moon Pact, the show’s cast features a huge line up such as Ding Yuxi, Hou Minghao, Zhang Ruonan, Meng Ziyi, Shen Yue and Betty Wu Xuanyi with a couple of popular names who’ve recently had hits under their belt. You’ll also see other familiar names such as Chen Yuqi, Chen Ruoxuan, Zhou Jieqiong and Zhao Yibo just to name a few.
Love in Pavilion tells the story of Dongfang Huaizhu (Liu Shishi) and Wangquan Hongye (Zhang Yunlong), leaders of two major families – the Dongfangs and Wangquans as they work together to stabilize and revive the Unity Alliance. Not an easy task as humans and demons have been in conflict for years.
Sword and Beloved
Meanwhile, the recent edition of iQiyi’s World Conference graced fans with sneak peeks into the third installment of the Fox Spirit Matchmaker live-action series. The Cheng Yi and Li Yitong led fantasy romance titled Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Sword and Beloved 涂山小红娘王权篇 also released a new poster.
Sword and Beloved features the story of Dongfang Huaizhu and Wangquan Hongye’s son Wangquan Fugui. Trained to become the ultimate weapon to slay demons, he meets Qintong (Li Yitong) a spider spirit who was sent to Wangquan villa to spy on the family.
It features Guo Junchen in a special starring role. He Ruixian, Yan Yunjing join the cast while Chang Huasen, Zhang Kaiying, Tong Mengshi and Jia Naina make special appearances.
