Tencent drama Gu Yue Feng Hua Lu 古乐风华录 has officially unveiled its full cast as it wrapped up filming. Headlined by Li Yitong and rising actor Chen Xinhai, this Chinese fantasy series brings to life a mythological world where traditional Chinese musical instruments are personified—turning into living, breathing characters with rich emotional arcs.
Li Yitong stars as Yue Yangyang, a mysterious musician, while also portraying the music spirit Xiyin. Starring opposite her is Chen Xinhai as Shao Yi, an amnesiac music spirit with a cold demeanor. Gu Yue Feng Hua Lu carries the trademark pretty visuals of its production company Stellar, featuring an ethereal, Dunhuang-inspired aesthetic in the promos. It looks like it might be similar to Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red-Moon Pact, which had a very large cast. The former ended up flopping perhaps due to too many storylines and not having a strong enough narrative—let’s hope this one avoids the same fate.
The huge lineup of stars includes Guo Junchen, He Luoluo, and Xiao Yan. Guo Junchen plays the Zhu Li, while He Luoluo transforms into the flute spirit Xia Chan. They are joined by Gu Zicheng, Qian Jiadi, and Chen Zhiyan. Listed in the order of their appearance are special stars Yang Shize, Li Gengyun, Chang Huasen, Zhao Yibo and Riley Wang. Last but not the least, Jia Nai Na, Terence Yin, Icey Dong Yan and child actor Lu Yuhao make friendly appearances.
