Ariel Lin Wins Best Actress at 2024 Asia Contents Awards and Speaks Korean During Her Speech

Ariel Lin has secured the Best Actress award at the 2024 Asia Contents & Global OTT Awards, organized by the Busan International Film Festival. Her powerful portrayal of Chien Ching Fen in the TW-drama Imperfect Us resonated deeply with audiences, showcasing her ability to convey complex emotions. The 41-year-old actress beat out competition, such as Indonesian star Dian Sastrowardoyo for Cigarette Girl, South Korean actresses Park Bo-young for Daily Dose of Sunshine and Kim Hye-yoon from her hit drama Lovely Runner.

During her acceptance speech, the Taiwanese star moved the crowd by speaking in fluent Korean, as well as Mandarin and English. Ariel Lin, who graduated from National Chengchi University in Taipei with a degree in Korean studies expressed her gratitude as she teared up during the emotional moment: “I’m incredibly honored to receive this award. It’s a huge validation for me and my team.” She added, “I sincerely believe that a good script can make the audience feel understood, and can also inspire people to understand what is really important. Thank you again for bringing us such a wonderful night!” In addition to her win, Singaporean singer Tanya Chua took home Best Original Song for Imperfect Us.

Meanwhile, Best Lead Actor went to Chinese star Hu Ge, who was also Ariel Lin’s onscreen partner in their earlier works such as The Little Fairy in 2006 and Legend of the Condor Heroes in 2008. The actor won for his work in Wong Kar-wai’s Blossoms Shanghai, which also won the coveted Best Creative award.
