Chinese actress Jing Tian‘s career has certainly gone through a couple of unexpected twists and turns over the years. From kicking butt in Hong Kong action movies to Hollywood where she continued to play strong kickarse women, nowadays, the 36-year-old can be seen in C-dramaland. It’s worth pointing out that Jing Tian has totally found her groove in roles featuring strong tenacious women who can totally whup anyone’s butts.
Jing Tian Dramas and Movies
Jing Tian, a graduate of Beijing Film Academy, started out in C-ent when she was 20 years old with works in Chinese TV and film. In 2013, she managed to wow Donnie Yen with her fighting skills when they worked together on the Hong Kong crime action film Special ID. The high-profile projects continued as she worked with the likes of Jackie Chan and Chow Yun Fat.
After that, thanks to her playing Commander Lin in Zhang Yimou’s The Great Wall with Matt Damon, she gained international attention when she was cast to appear in two big budget Hollywood adventure films namely Kong Skull Island and Pacific Rim: Uprising, all of which were produced by Legendary Pictures.
Since then, the actress has returned her focus to the small screens. These days, she mostly appears in Chinese dramas though it’s not surprising to hear she’d gotten herself the reputation of playing the kickarse character in many of them. While she was known to be one of the few Chinese actresses to have starred in Hollywood, it was the fantasy drama Rattan where she played a supernatural being as the titular Si Teng that gave her lots of buzz. Then, she did historicals like The Legend of Zhuohua and Wonderland of Love. More recently, she shook things up a little in her newest xianxia titled Love’s Rebellion with Zhang Linghe which recently ended.

I didn’t even know she was in Western movies if I’m honest. Her career longevity is actually pretty impressive as a lot of actresses in their mid-30s in C-ent can barely get lead roles.

I watched The Great Wall and she was very impressive. But I really loved her in Wonderland of love. Great acting skills in all aspects and very good chemistry with her partner. Still going to watch the other Hollywood movies. For me she’s my favourite.
