And just like that, Joe Chen too is married. Turns out it wasn’t only Hyun Bin and Son Ye-Jin who picked the last day of March to marry. The actress who will turn 43 on April 3 quietly tied the knot with her Malaysian beau Alan Chen on March 31 after dating for over two years. Making the news Insta official, the newly hitched couple shared a photo of both their hands sporting matching Cartier wedding rings.
“Things are not always simple, but having you by my side is enough. I know what being blessed with good fortune means. Thank you all for your best wishes” they both shared in Chinese. Before making their big announcement on social media, the couple was spotted in Taipei registering their marriage earlier in the day.
Joe Chen met Alan who is nine years her junior on the dating reality show Meeting Mr. Right 2. As the show’s only single participant, Joe was paired up to go on dates with the Malaysian painter. After a dramatic Sleepless in Seattle–esque finale, the pair officially became a couple and began dating for realz. Now most people are pretty skeptical about relationships borne from dating shows standing the test of time, but this one at least, has a happy ending. Last year, a photo of Joe wearing a ring on her finger sparked engagement rumours between the two. While there wasn’t any engagement announcement ever made, fans remained hopeful.
Congratulations to Joe and Alan Chen! Wishing them both happiness and countless blessings.
