“Destroy it then”. These are the three words Bambi Zhu Xudan wrote on social media before deleting her post. The actress’ cryptic post naturally led to speculation as to whom these were addressed to. Some seem to have the opinion that the actress is referring to her management company Jaywalk Studio.
Unlike her Jaywalk colleagues like Dilraba Dilmurat, Yang Mi and Vengo Gao Weiguang who’ve had a lot of exposure in the past year, it hasn’t escaped Netizen’s notice that Bambi hasn’t been getting as much screen time. In fact, the attention she received for her role as Zhou Zhiruo in 2019’s wuxia remake of Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre 倚天屠龙记 could’ve opened doors for her, yet things didn’t really take off with the actress only appearing in Psych-Hunter 心宅猎人 in 2020.
What’s more, observant Netizens have also pointed out that Zhu Xudan’s career appears to be the “forgotten one” when compared to Vengo Gao who had five dramas including Eternal Love of Dream and Miss S released last year or Dilraba whose dramas You are My Glory and Change Ge Xing are expected to be out this year on top of the other two out last year. Vin Zhang Binbin did not have any drama air in 2020, yet he comes back strong in 2021 with Storm Eye opposite Yang Mi and Rattan opposite Jing Tian both released in recent weeks.
In one of the comments on her post, someone pointed out that Zhu Xudan only filmed for over four months last year and spent the rest of 2020 staying at home not working. Even now, there has been no news of her getting back to work.

It’s easy to see how Netizens could have leapt to the conclusion that her post was alluding to her dissatisfaction with how her career has been faring. Zhu Xudan has been in the industry for 8 years since making her acting debut in 2013. Nonetheless, after the post gained attention online, Zhu Xudan took to social media to say “don’t wildly speculate. Who hasn’t had moments when they’re feeling down”.

I don’t like her (I don’t think she’s a very good actress) but I don’t see why she her post would be complaining about her agency since she actually has at least 4 upcoming dramas in which she’s the female lead.

Agree! I don’t think she s a great actress either.

She was casted in a number of high profile dramas but she did not shine. She is very fortunate for the chances she had as a newbie years ago. There are always good reasons to why she is not moving upwards..

I remember when “Heavenly Sword and Dragon..” came out, she had more exposure on weibo than the leading lady (that’s pretty normal for that drama though as prior adaptation that character also had major exposure too). I was expecting to see her in more project, but I guess it was not to be.
