Danson Tang Turned Himself In for Draft Evasion Case Last Year, His Studio Explains

Danson Tang Turns Himself In for Draft Evasion Case

Actor Danson Tang has been named among individuals charged in the large-scale draft evasion case in Taiwan, though his studio denies circulating rumors mocking him for his recent social media post captioned, “heading out.”

According to the New Taipei District Prosecutors Office, Danson Tang was included in the fourth wave of indictments announced on April 15, wherein 14 individuals were charged, of which 9 are celebrities. The 41-year-old actor was among those who reportedly turned themselves in voluntarily and prosecutors have recommended that the court grant probation.

When news broke, netizens joked about how the actor could still manage to post on social media and share photos of himself “heading out” when most people would be keeping a low profile. As it turns out, the actor was promoting his upcoming appearance in Hangzhou, China. Meanwhile, Danson Tang studio issued a statement clarifying that he had actually turned himself in last year and had already fully cooperated with authorities regarding military service obligations. The statement also denied recent rumors, adding that the studio would pursue legal responsibility.
