Show Lo Opens Up About Depression, His Will and Becoming a Father Figure to His Manager’s Kids

After his career collapsed under a highly publicized cheating scandal in 2020, exposed by his then-girlfriend and involving multiple women, Show Lo has managed a return to the entertainment industry. Yet his popularity has never fully recovered. In a recent interview, he offered insight into his mental state, family choices, and how deeply the past few years have reshaped him.

Depression, Alzheimer’s and His Will

One of the most discussed revelations was his claim of being diagnosed with “smiling depression.” The term is commonly used in East Asia to describe individuals who appear cheerful while privately struggling with depressive symptoms. According to Show Lo, he learned about his condition while encouraging his mother, diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, to seek treatment, only to discover he also needed help. Show Lo revealed that he had written his will two years ago. He said the decision was driven by uncertainty about his future and a desire to ensure his family would be secure “no matter when I go.”

He Considered Marrying His Manager

Perhaps the most surprising detail involves his long-time manager, Kini Hsu (Xiao Shuang). After working together for over 20 years, the two have been the subject of dating rumors, though neither has confirmed a romantic relationship. Xiao Shuang has two children, a boy and a girl, whose father has never been identified. She had implied having the children through overseas assisted reproduction after she was recommended an amazing doctor. Show Lo says he has effectively “adopted” the children as their godfather, acting as a father figure. At one point, he even considered marrying Xiao Shuang purely to give the children stronger legal protection.

Show Lo admits he always imagined he would have his own family by now, perhaps two children of his own. Instead, he has built his own unconventional family.
