“Love for You” Suggests Faux Incest in a Tangled Drama of Crime and Emotional Turmoil

Chinese drama Love For You (野狗骨头), where the title translates to Wild Dogs Bones, has officially wrapped filming after less than four months. Based on the novel by Xiu Tu Cheng, the series stars Song Weilong as Chen Yi who is like a wild dog and Zhang Jingyi as Miao Jing who is stubborn to the bone. It also stars Leon Leong, He Ruixian, Lian Lian and He Minghan.

Set in a small Southern Chinese town during the 1990s, Love for You follows the complicated relationship between Chen Yi and Miao Jing . Forced to depend on each other as children due to family tragedy, they are reunited as adults, only to find themselves caught up in a web of crime and emotional turmoil. The drama combines a “fake-incest” dynamic due to the two leads almost becoming a blended family in their youth. Could this be the hot new trope because it’s a bit like Speed and Love.

Zhang Jingyi has been on a roll with different roles lately from the princess in Legend of Zang Hai to the heroine looking for justice in Reborn. This looks to be yet another challenging role for her to adopt a more vulnerable, tough demeanor to match her character’s complexity. Meanwhile, Song Weilong undergoes a transformation, stepping away from his usual pretty boy image to play a gritty, rough-around-the-edges character.

Love for You is expected to air in early 2026 on Mango TV and Hunan TV.
