Murder mystery series Reborn 焕羽 featuring Zhang Jingyi and Zhou Yiran is set to premiere on June 19, 2025. Produced by Xixi Pictures and Tencent, the drama is not only targeting a domestic release but will also stream on international platforms. Don’t expect a light hearted campus story despite the school setting. Instead, the story revolves around the death of Qiao Qingyu’s (Zhang Jingyi) sister Beiyu and her relentless investigation to get to the bottom of what actually happened.
We may have just seen Zhang Jingyi as the badass fighter Xiang An Tu in Legend of Zang Hai, but the choice for the 25-year-old actress to take on the role was pretty inspired as a look at her playing the stubborn and fragile Qiao Qingyu will confirm that she’s able to step into the shoes of her character pretty seamlessly. Likewise, her chemistry with 24-year-old actor Zhou Yiran appears to be well-suited.
Reborn Synopsis
In 2007, 16-year-old Qiao Qingyu and her family moved away from their small town of Shunyun to get away from rumours and gossip surrounding her sister Bai Yu’s death. Hoping to get their lives back to normal, Qingyu began to investigate the real cause of her sister’s death with a little help from her rebellious school mate Ming Sheng. As the truth regarding her sister’s “murder” comes to light, Qingyu doggedly seeks justice for what her sister endured. Despite the many challenges and family drama, Qingyu’s resilience shines through. Thankfully, she also has the unwavering support of Ming Sheng to get her through the darkest moments.
