When it comes to her debut acting performance, Kim Dahyun from popular girl group TWICE certainly knew how to make a good impression. The 26-year-old idol singer shows she has the acting chops playing the role of Sun-Ah – the role originally played by Michelle Chen, in the Korean film remake of popular Taiwanese hit movie You Are the Apple of My Eye.
“Better than expected” was how South Korean moviegoers described her performance, saying the emotions she demonstrated onscreen somehow resonated with them. Considering this is her very first film and it’s a remake of a beloved hit to boot, I’d say she’s off to a good start!
Dahyun said playing the heroine for her first movie really put her under a lot of pressure but she was also pretty excited about challenging herself and wanted to do it well. “I’m very grateful for the opportunity and I know this is a valuable experience.” The rookie actress also thanked her onscreen partner – former B1A4 member Jung Jinyoung, who most likely knew the huge pressure she was under being a former idol himself, for helping her run her lines. “I learned a lot from his thoughtfulness. For example, this time we also collabed on the OST of the film, which was my very first attempt composing music.”
You are the Apple of My Eye is a coming-of-age romance between a popular top student and her troublesome schoolmate who claims he has no interest in her.
