Liu Shishi has been making great project choices lately. After her grand return to historical dramas with A Journey to Love and her well-received historical thriller Kill My Sins, she’ll soon be returning to modern dramas with the recently announced Dream 醉梦 (lit. Drunk Dream), which is in the middle of filming. This marks her first contemporary drama in four years.
Set in the early 2000s, Dream follows journalist Shen Leshui (Liu Shishi), who once documented the lives of workers at the Songjiang Brewery. Years later, the brewery has lost its former glory and becomes the center of a chilling murder mystery. At the heart of it lies the enigmatic death of Liu Xuemei. As Shen Leshui investigates, she uncovers a web of ambition, greed, and long-buried secrets, leading to a series of deadly events.
It brings together an impressive mix with renowned director Yang Yang and Under the Skin writer Jia Dongyan behind the scenes. Liu Shishi is joined by young actor Hu Xianxu, Li Naiwen and actress Li Qin who makes a special appearance as murder victim Liu Xuemei. The drama also features Huang Xiaolei, Chen Yongsheng, Lin Jiacuan, Ying Er and more.
