In his seven years in the entertainment industry, Wang Ziqi saw his big break in 2021 with The Imperial Coroner. The actor acknowledges that the drama changed everything for his career. Along with his rising star, the 28-year-old has earned a reputation for having exceptional chemistry with his co-stars. Notably, he keeps reuniting with them in multiple projects, specifically three of his co-stars: Su Xiaotong, Wang Yuwen, and now Huang Jingyu with three dramas each.
Reunions with Su Xiaotong in The Imperial Coroner 2
Wang Ziqi has worked with Su Xiaotong on three projects so far. Their collaboration began with The Imperial Coroner (2021), followed by Chase the Truth (2023). Fans are eagerly anticipating their return in The Imperial Coroner 2, which they just filmed this year. The first season was a perfect blend of a level-headed heroine, an intelligent male lead, coupled with very strong writing—no wonder fans demanded a sequel!
Wang Yuwen: A “CP” Fans Can’t Get Enough Of
Wang Ziqi’s onscreen chemistry with Wang Yuwen is equally notable. The two first appeared together in Novoland: The Castle in the Sky Season 2 (2020), where Wang Yuwen was the female lead, and Wang Ziqi played a supporting role. They even had their respective love interests. However, their best pairing came in Once We Get Married (2021), where they played the main couple. Their “CP” became even more popular when they reunited in The Love You Give Me (2023).
Bromance Goals with Huang Jingyu
Most recently, Wang Ziqi starred alongside Huang Jingyu in The First Shot. Fans loved the bromance between their characters Zheng Bei and Gu Yiran. Off-camera, the two actors are very good friends. Interestingly, it was Huang Jingyu who convinced Wang Ziqi to take on the role, a decision that won over many fans.
Their friendship dates back to Wang Ziqi’s supporting role in the firefighter-themed romance Bright Eyes in the Dark (2023), where Huang Jingyu was the male lead.
