Yang Xuwen’s journey in the Chinese entertainment industry has been a mix of challenges and growth. The 30-year-old actor, who graduated from the Central Academy of Drama, gained attention in recent years as the star of the highly-rated Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty which kicked off filming for its its third season this October 2024. He’s also back as the main protagonist of the currently airing crime series Duel of Shadows.
However, Yang Xuwen’s path to success hasn’t been smooth. Early in his career, after he had achieved some fame playing the iconic role of Guo Jing in The Legend of the Condor Heroes in 2017, the news surrounding model-actress Ren Jiao who was found dead after falling from a hotel building naked affected the rising actor’s career as he was reported to have been with her the night before. Police later determined the death was an accident, nor was the actor involved. After some roles in subsequent years, Yang Xuwen completely bounced back due to his iconic role as Lu Ling Feng in 2022’s Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty and its even more successful sequel.
Yang Xuwen recently landed himself a cultural program that aired on government-owned broadcaster CCTV, which is definitely a very positive move for the actor. He also happens to be celebrating his 10-year anniversary in showbiz this year since making his acting debut in 2014’s Cosmetology High.
