Xianxia drama The Boundless Bright Moon 明月苍茫 just unveiled their casting lineup in its recently held boot ceremony. Adapted from the novel His Lordship The National Tutor of Defense 保卫国师大人 by Fengxing Shuiyunjian, the upcoming series stars Peng Xiaoran and Zheng Yecheng.
When it comes to Peng Xiaoran, most people still think of her iconic role as Xiaofeng in Goodbye My Princess even though the drama aired several years ago. Nevertheless, the 33-year-old actress has kept extremely busy with work. She finished filming Phoenix Stage with Ren Jialun not too long ago, and now her new drama with Zheng Yecheng has officially been announced and started filming.
Peng Xiaoran plays Feng Miaojun, a smart and savy character who has a heart of stone and a determined personality. As a princess from the fallen Anxia Kingdom, Miaojun finds herself connected to Yun Ya after a strange series of events. When at first she tries to avoid Yun Ya because of his cruel reputation, fate had other ideas and brings them together.
As for Zheng Yecheng, the 31-year-old actor similarly has a string of upcoming dramas, all of which are historicals. In The Boundless Bright Moon, he plays the broody and coldly rational teacher Yun Ya from the enemy kingdom of Wei. Funny how some Netizens pointed out his costume is quite similar to Peng Xiaoran’s down to their hair style and ornaments. Quite the opposite of the black and red ensemble for the character Mo Tizhun, played by Winwin Dong Sicheng who once again plays the second lead after Snowfall. The cast also features Yang Xizi, Lin Kai and Li Xinze.

Yeah, not too fond of his hairstyle. His hairstyle makes it seem like he’s filming a XianXia drama, but he’s not. And, to me he doesn’t fit this pretty vibe since he appears more masculine.
