The Chinese entertainment industry has been shaken by the passing of Hong Kong actor Norman Chui. A beloved martial arts star of the 1970s and 80s who continued to appear in numerous projects up recent years, Norman Chui’s contributions have left an indelible mark.
According to Hong Kong media outlet HK01, Norman Chui passed away on September 1, 2024 in Beijing due to complications from esophageal cancer. He was 73 years old. As if this loss wasn’t heartbreaking enough, tragedy struck twice for the Chui family. While making funeral arrangements for her husband, it was reported that Norman Chui’s third wife, a Mainland Chinese dancer who was 30 years his junior, tragically suffered a heart attack and passed away recently. Chui’s eldest daughter, Erica Chui (徐頴堃), his daughter with Hong Kong actress Shirley Yim, has since taken charge of the funeral arrangements.
Many lament at the passing of legendary actors like Norman Chui and Cheng Pei-pei earlier this year, marking the end of an era in Hong Kong martial arts cinema, but their contributions to film and television will continue to be celebrated for generations to come.

Why is it a tragedy? People get old. Death is to be expected.
Nene
of course, because the wife is only 43 years old,the family had to bury two bodies at the same time.

Are you serious? His wife was 43, and now his family has to bury 2 beloved persons.

Even if he’s old and death is to be expected, people can still be sad about it…
