“Fangs of Fortune” Starring Hou Minghao and Chen Duling Promises to be a Visual Feast

From leaked photos to director teasers, anticipation for Fangs of Fortune 大梦归离, formerly known as The Story of Mystics, has been building up for months. And now that filming, which began October last year has wrapped this February, we finally have an official first look a My Journey to You write-director Guo Jingming‘s newest project.

A Visual Spectacle

The IQIYI series is said to be inspired by the ‘Classic of Mountains and Seas” with a premise around ‘demons catching demons.’ A powerful demon, weary of his existence but refusing to go down without a fight. It’s a story that promises to take us on a journey through lands unknown, where fate and destiny collide in the unexpected of ways as he meets a group of individuals.

Picture this: everyone, all laid out in water surrounded by lush greenery. It’s a chilling sight, quite literally since the actors had to get used to the water temperature to shoot the beautiful posters. One thing’s for sure: when it comes to Guo Jingming, known for his impeccable sense of style and aesthetics, we can always expect a visual feast.

And That Cast

Leading the charge is Neo Hou Minghao, taking on the role of the formidable demon with a flair that’s uniquely his own. Opposite him is female lead Chen Duling. After a slew of recent dramas where she often played supporting roles or the villain, in the case of Till the End of the Moon, I’d love to see her shine in this one. My Journey to You’s breakout star Tian Jiarui levels up to second lead and actress Cheng Xiao round up the main cast.

Aide from the two beauties, Chen Duling and Cheng Xiao, it’s a predominantly male cast, so I won’t be surprised if we see Guo Jingming’s trademark “bromance” in this. Child actor Lester Lin Ziye who’s only 12 and also appeared in My Journey to You joins the cast along with Xu Zhenxuan, Chinese idol Yan An from the K-pop group PENTAGON, and Lai Weiming.
