Thai actress Lingling Kwong gave fans a treat for Halloween 2026 by recreating one of Hong Kong cinema’s most iconic ghost characters, Nie Xiaoqian, played by Joey Wong in the 1987 classic film A Chinese Ghost Story. The 31-year-old actress shared her look on her social media, dressed in a flowing white outfit with long black hair and the character’s signature high bun, haunting and ethereal. Orm Kornnaphat Sethratanapong, who is one half of their hugely popular LingOrm on-screen pairing delighted many fans when she had left a comment, “Cry.”
In a short clip showcasing her transformation, Lingling Kwong recites, “Actually, ghosts are better than humans.” It’s a line from the movie that echoes its theme of love between humans and spirits, as well as the blurred lines between good and evil. Many said she had the unmistakable charm of a Hong Kong actress from the 1990s, with her natural beauty being a fit for the role. Lingling Kwong is known to have a mixed heritage as her father is from Hong Kong, where she was also born and raised, and her mother is Thai. She moved to Thailand at the age of 17 and eventually pursued her career in the entertainment industry.
