Chinese actress Jing Tian has become embroiled in an escalating controversy after crypto billionaire Justin Sun Yuchen‘s attorney, Zhang Qihuai, issued a statement confirming a civil lawsuit against a certain Jing (implied to be the actress) and her parents over a related property dispute. The amount involved allegedly exceeds RMB 30 million (approximately USD 4.5 million), and the case has been formally accepted and filed by the court.
What Happened?
The controversy first emerged in May over rumors that Jing Tian had become involved in a dispute with a mysterious wealthy businessman born in the 1990s and an alleged surrogacy arrangement. Jing Tian’s studio issued a strong statement back then, calling the allegations malicious rumors and saying lawyers had been instructed to collect evidence and pursue legal action.
On August 27, the same rumors resurfaced with several gossip bloggers now identifying the previously unnamed businessman as Chinese-born cypto entrepreneur Justin Sun. That same day, Sun’s lawyer, Zhang Qihuai, released a statement confirming that Sun had filed a civil lawsuit and also applied to the court for property preservation measures. After the case was accepted, Jing and her side raised an objection to the court’s jurisdiction. The case has reportedly not yet entered trial, hence, no ruling.
The same day, Jing Tian’s studio issued a second response regarding the issue. They wrote, “reputation is an artist’s life, as well as an artist’s vulnerability.” The studio adopted a strong stance, saying they have the courage to say no even when threats are made using the artist’s reputation as leverage. The statement suggested that private matters were allegedly being used as a bargaining chip to create pressure, rather than the matter being simply a financial dispute. Jing Tian’s studio said it would “leave everything to the courts” and would no longer respond beyond updates concerning legal actions, in order to avoid occupying additional public resources.
Justin Sun’s “My Girlfriend Jing Tian” Post
The disputed payment of more than RMB 30 million was allegedly the cai li “bride price”, paid by the groom’s family to the bride’s family before marriage. Jing Tian and Justin Sun reportedly broke up during the first half of 2026, and the main purpose of Sun’s lawsuit is to seek repayment of the money.
Separately, Justin Sun published a lengthy post on social media titled “My Girlfriend Jing Tian.” The post purportedly detailed his alleged relationship with the actress, from secretly admiring her in 2007 to eventually meeting, dating and discussing marriage, before the relationship eventually broke down over disputes involving US$50 million and surrogacy. It contained numerous highly private details, including an alleged RMB 30 million bride-price transfer, private-jet travel, booking an entire hotel floor and egg retrieval for surrogacy. However, it also ended with a disclaimer stating that “this article is entirely fictional, and any resemblance is purely coincidental.”
Meanwhile, public perception, which initially sided with Jing Tian, has turned as many were surprised that the alleged dispute with a wealthy boyfriend would now have a name and face behind it, not to mention the potentially career-ending surrogacy rumors that once affected stars like disgraced artist Zheng Shuang. Her studio’s second statement was also criticized for being “unclear” without any outright denial of the rumors with Justin Sun. Nevertheless, her supporters also left comments urging her to sue. Although nothing has been proven, fans express concern about Jing Tian’s upcoming reunion drama with Zhang Binbin and whether it would still be able to air.
Jing Tian Breaks Her Silence
[UPDATE AUG 28]: Jing Tian took to social media to admit she still has bad judgment in men. While she didn’t name names, it’s assumed she’s talking about Justin Sun. Her past relationship with table tennis champion Zhang Jike also ended in controversy. Jing Tian explained she’s never sell her soul and wrote, “In the past, now, and in the future, I will never sell my love for money, nor would I ever sell my soul. I still believe in love. I still have terrible judgment. I’m still lacking in wisdom. But I believe in the law. I believe in kindness. And I believe that, in the end, justice and fairness will prevail. Time will prove everything.”
