Love’s Ambition Premieres as Zhao Lusi Returns with Bold Antihero Role

Love’s Ambition (许我耀眼) “surprise” premiere, which was supposed to be any day now has indeed arrived. It’s certainly a treat for Zhao Lusi fans given a tumultuous year for the actress who is locked in a feud with her agency. Four episodes of the 32-episode urban romance was released at 10 a.m. on September 26, 2025 and simultaneously streamed internationally. On the same day , Love’s Ambition has already reached a popularity score above 26,000, rising in Tencent’s heat index charts.

At the heart of the show is Zhao Lusi as Xu Yan, a livestreamer from humble origins who reinvents herself as a high-society heiress to marry into wealth. Her razor-sharp motto—“A good woman earns a reputation, a bad woman gets everything”—sets the tone for a female lead who refuses to play nice. To sustain the lie, she hires fake parents, hones elite skills like playing the piano, and transforms fiction into reality.

Opposite her is William Chan as Shen Haoming, a calculating corporate mogul who knows his wife’s secret from the start. Their marriage is a business arrangement and their cat-and-mouse dynamic intensifies as their feelings blur the lines.

Love’s Ambition is another one from the web novel “Da Qiao Xiao Qiao” (大乔小乔) by Zhang Yue Ran, just like Zhao Liying’s The Unseen Sister, which is a crime suspense film. The drama version seems “less dark” compared to its predecessor though it does adhere to the theme of ambition—particularly the heroine’s unapologetic climb on the social ladder. It also stars Wan Peng, Tang Xiaotian and Guan Zijing with special stars like Fan Shiqi.
