X NINE Officially Disbands After 10 Years – Xiao Zhan Trends After Updating His Profile

On July 18, 2025, Chinese boy group X NINE has officially disbanded, ending a ten-year run that began with the survival show X-Fire in 2015 that saw them debut in 2016. All seven members—Zhao Lei, Xia Zhiguang, Peng Chuyue, Wu Jiacheng, Gu Jiacheng, Guo Zifan, and Yan Xujia—removed “X玖少年团” (X NINE) from their Weibo usernames in the afternoon with Xiao Zhan being the last one to retain the group name “X Nine” until he also changed his handle at 7pm.

Xiao Zhan’s handle is now simply his Chinese name “肖战” (Xiao Zhan) and this change has gotten him trending #1 on the Chinese hot search. The popular star updated his bio to “Actor, Singer” and his three representative works now list newer works like The Legend of Zang Hai, The Youth Memories, while retaining his breakout drama The Untamed to the delight of longtime fans. Shortly afterward, the official X NINE account posted a farewell statement: “The time we burned gave us the best youth. Nine years—Be A Man. X Nine wishes you happiness every day!”

This action confirmed that the members’ contracts with Wajijiwa Entertainment had officially ended. Since their debut in 2015, X NINE had operated under a 10-year limited-term group contract though they haven’t functioned as group in years, which is why the disbandment felt more like a symbolic end. Many fans are now calling for other early-generation groups like TFBOYS and UNIQ to similarly update their public profiles—signaling a potential wave of disbandments in the world of C-pop.
