Urban romance drama Road to Success (灿如繁星) has officially begun filming. Starring popular actress Esther Yu Shuxin and rising star Chen Jingke, the story dives into the hot-blooded world of high school football.
Adapted from the novel Kuang Lu (狭路) by Chang Er (长洱), the plot follows Lin Wanxing, a psychology PhD student who’s forced by circumstances to return home—only to somehow end up managing her old school’s sports equipment room. Tasked with rebuilding the disbanded football team, she teams up with her mysterious tenant Wang Fa, a former coach. As they help the students grow both on and off the field, the two must also confront their own painful pasts—learning to heal while chasing victory together.
Looks like we’ve got a sports theme on our hands, though I’m curious how Esther’s character will fit into the role since she kind of falls into it. Gotta say, I don’t know much about Chen Jingke except for his CP with Sun Qian in Islands, but he definitely looks the part of an athlete. Plus, this one’s from the makers of Go Go Squid!, so that’s very promising.

Interesting 🧐 Esther always has amazing chemistry with all her leads 🥰 Not my style of drama anything sport professional etc I red to stay aaay from. But I will watch this cause I like her

Haha. I have the contrary reaction. I won’t be interested as I don’t like Esther Yu’s acting plus this is just another typical romance story plot – same old, same old.

True and that is a fair statement … just like I can’t stomach Bai Lui dramas cause she play wooden females a lot … I mean like the copy past leads. great actress but I hate 80 percent of her drama because of the role she is portrays not the actual actress. But I loved her in other things. Of recent she is a heavy skip. So I get it when people don’t like specific actress etc.
