Betty Wu Xuanyi, former Rocket Girls 101 member, is back in the spotlight as she competes in Ride the Wind 2025 (浪姐6). To promote the show, she hosted a livestream, inviting former teammates like Duan Aojuan, Yamy, Lai Meiyun, and Xu Mengjie to join her.
In the livestream, the atmosphere was lively as she and her former teammates interacted with fans. Some CP fans couldn’t help but ask: where was Meng Meiqi? Wu Xuanyi explained that she was too busy to join. It seemed like an innocent explanation—but Meng Meiqi posted on Weibo that day congratulating actress Song Yanfei on securing first place in the first round of Ride the Wind 2025. The timing was too much of a coincidence for netizens, who quickly labeled it as a “slap in Wu Xuanyi’s face” who’s also a contestant and speculated that their friendship had soured.
Wu Xuanyi and Meng Meiqi go way back. Along with Cheng Xiao, they started out at the same agency, Yuehua Entertainment, trained together, and went to South Korea in 2015, eventually debuting as members of K-pop group WJSN (Cosmic Girls). Later, all three returned to China—though their paths diverged. Cheng Xiao became a mentor on a survival show, while Meng Meiqi and Wu Xuanyi competed as contestants. It worked out well for them, as they placed first and second respectively, securing spots in the C-pop girl group Rocket Girls 101.
During Produce 101 China, the two won over fans with their sisterly bond. Meng Meiqi was at the height of her fame as the show’s big winner, but after a scandal, her career has struggled to recover. Now, with Meng Meiqi openly supporting Song Yanfei instead of Wu Xuanyi, netizens wonder—has their friendship truly fallen apart, or is everyone just overthinking it again?
