There are two actors in Chinese entertainment named Yan An, though their names are written with different characters. One is former Pentagon member Yan An (闫桉), who graced us with his gorgeousness as a supporting role in Fangs of Fortune. The other Yan An (颜安), once an idol hopeful on the Youku reality show We Are Young, recently appeared in the hit drama Blossom. He played the male lead’s younger brother, Song Han—a character viewers would’ve found unlikable.
Interestingly, he is just now finding fame after the show’s conclusion. This time, it’s his livestream antics that have finally catapulted the 24-year-old actor into the spotlight. It’s even gotten him trending over popular stars on Douyin. Yan An’s real-life personality has flipped the script, showcasing a comedic side that contrasts sharply with his onscreen character. His banter with his assistant, Zhu Li Jie (“older sister”), and his self-deprecating humor has everyone clamoring for variety show appearances. After all, Yan An can sing, dance, and act (he’s a graduate of Shanghai Theater Academy). Perhaps his newfound fame can lead to more opportunities.
