Chinese Actor Missing After Flying to Thailand for Casting: Celebs like Gong Jun Spread Call for Help

On January 5, late at night, a Weibo user named “Jiajia” (handle: 失眠爹地), revealed alarming details about her boyfriend, actor Wang Xing (whom she calls Xing Xing), who went missing on January 3 while attending a casting call near the Thailand-Myanmar border. Xing Xing is known for his role as innkeeper Mu Tong in Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red-Moon Pact and has appeared in small roles in popular dramas like The Tale of Rose and Under the Skin 2.

Jiajia disclosed that Xing Xing was contacted via an actor group chat to join a production in Thailand after a successful audition. He left Shanghai Pudong Airport on January 2 and arrived in Bangkok early January 3. During his journey, he remained in contact with Jiajia and shared his location. However, communication ceased around noon on January 3. Jiajia has since reported the case to Shanghai police and sought help from Chinese embassies in Chiang Mai. She also tagged many public personalities/accounts hoping to spread the news.

Actor Gong Jun, who previously worked with Xing Xing, shared Jiajia’s post. He wrote, “I’ve acted in scenes with him before, he is a great and dedicated guy. I hope he is safe.” Celebs such as Hu Lianxin, Qin Lan, etc. have also shared the news.

Jiajia plans to travel to Bangkok on January 6 to file a local report and seek experienced assistance. She revealed that other actors had experienced similar scams, and hopes to put an end to what she calls the real life version of the film No More Bets.
