A year after finding herself put under a “soft ban”, it seems Jenny Zhang Jiani’s frozen status has finally been lifted. Last year, Zhang Jiani and Angelababy received tons of criticism over photos of them allegedly having watched Lisa’s performance at the Paris Crazy Horse cabaret surfaced. Although they was no official word on consequences for attending the show at the time, many believe their disappearance from the public eye was the result of the incident.

Both Zhang Jiani and Angelababy’s Weibo and Douyin accounts were frozen. And it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that some brand partnerships were also dropped. Suddenly, two actresses who were supposedly at the top of their game seemingly dropped out of the public. At the time, there were rumours that the soft ban on Zhang Jiani would last for a year whilst Baby, for three months. Looking back, it seems the rumours are true after all.

On November 1, Zhang Jiani’s “year of silence” is finally over with her accounts across multiple platforms such as Douyin and Weibo, reinstated. Now that the ban has been lifted, guess that means we can now look forward to her projects finally being broadcast? I’m sure many of her fans are eagerly looking forward to it, though whether she can successfully make a comeback remains to be seen. Baby in fact despite having her ban lifted after three months hasn’t had an easy time of it as far as comebacks go. So who knows whether Zhang Jiani’s return to showbiz might be easier or otherwise.
