It has been 10 years since the South Korean-Chinese boy band UNIQ first debuted under Yuehua Entertainment, one of China’s leading artist agencies. However, the group hasn’t been active in the past years. Its most well-known member is Wang Yibo, the maknae (youngest) and main dancer of the group, who has skyrocketed to fame with his solo career.
As the group celebrated its 10th anniversary, UNIQ’s leader Zhou Yixuan sparked disbandment rumors by sharing the group’s song “Best Friend” on social media with the caption, “There is always a time for gathering and separation, and there will be a time for us to meet again.” Consequently, the hashtags “UNIQ disbandment” and “UNIQ Wang Yibo” began trending on social media.
UNIQ (유니크) consists of five members: Chinese members Yixuan, Wenhan, and Yibo, as well as Korean members Sungjoo and Seungyeon. The group’s contract is reportedly set to expire in October 2024. Whatever the case, Netizens left well-wishes, with some wondering if Wang Yibo will now remove “UNIQ” from his Weibo username.
