Yang Zi: The Next Chinese Actress to be a Torchbearer for the Paris 2024 Olympics

Earlier today, it was trending on the Chinese hot search that Andy Yang Zi will be a torchbearer for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Despite the initial lack of confirmation from Yang Zi and her team, fans eagerly waited, and sure enough, it was made official when the French Embassy in China shared the trending hashtag about Yang Zi becoming a torchbearer. This is not the first time a Chinese actress has been chosen for this honor. Just last month, actress Zhao Lusi became a torchbearer.

Andy Yang Zi’s fans are celebrating the news along with how the announcement was made by the French Embassy in China. It’s definitely turning out to be a great month for the 31-year-old actress. She received a Magnolia Awards nomination for her performance in “Lost You Forever,” is about to wrap up her newest drama “Flourished Peony,” and there are talks that the sequel to “Lost You Forever” will air this summer. And now, the Olympics!

Incidentally, Yang Zi’s birth name, Yang Ni-Ao, has a connection to the Olympics. And speaking of names, she chose Andy as her English name while studying the language as a child. She now jokes about how she only realized later on that Andy is typically a boy’s name.
