You know what they say about not letting a little set-back defeat you? Whilst showcasing a Xinjiang folk dance in this year’s CCTV Spring Festival Gala – THE show everyone tunes into during the new year festivities, Chinese actress Dilraba Dilmurat literally took a spill in the middle of her performance. However, from the way how she quickly picked herself up and smiled through the rest of her dance, you’d never guess that she actually fractured her tailbone when she slipped. If that were me, I’d probably be limping my way around for the next couple of weeks. Yet being the consummate entertainer, Dilraba continued performing like nothing happened at all.

The 31-year-old Uyghur actress’s beautiful dance number last month won a lot of praise, and TV audiences were none the wiser since her accident was not shown on camera. It was only recently that gala director Qin Zheng brought it to the public’s attention. According to her, “Dilireba actually tripped while transitioning stages and had a slight fracture. She stood up immediately to prepare for the next dance. Really picked the right person, too professional.”

When the performance was aired for the lunar new year celebrations back in February, Dilraba excitedly gushed how she felt very honoured to be back in her hometown and how chuffed she was to share Xinjiang’s folk songs and dances. Her gorgeous outfit in a very auspicious red colour perfectly complemented her performance. No one even knew that she got injured had the director not spoken up about it recently, and it’s gotten her viral Xinjiang dance trending once again.
