There’s a new music show called Sound Endless (Sheng Sheng Bu Xi)  聲生不息, also known as Infinity and Beyond, making its way to the small screens this Sunday, April 24. If you’ve long been a follower of Hong Kong Cantopop music, you’ll surely be wowed by the amazing line-up of music legends tasked to reinterpret classics hits.

All Star Line-Up

Produced jointly by Mango TV, Hunan TV and Hong Kong’s TVB, the show announced their final line-up of stars through some very retro inspired show posters reminiscent of old-school album covers back in the day. Hunan TV is also home of the talent show Singer which officially ended in 2020 after eight seasons. And it certainly looks like Infinity and Beyond might be their next big music show. Likewise, it’s also worth noting that the show will be a double celebration of sorts since 2022 not only marks TVB’s 55th anniversary, but also the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s handover to China.

Infinity and Beyond will be co-hosted by He Jiong and Wong Cho Lam. As for its performers, both old school and new gen artist from Hong Kong and the Mainland have been thrown into the mix.

The 16 artists (some of whom should be very familiar to you) include husband and wife George Lam and Sally Yeh. There’s also Hacken Lee, Jerry Lamb, Miriam Yeung, Li Jian, Coco Lee, Bibi Zhou Bichang, Liu Xijun, Mosaic. Mike Tsang, Mao Buyi, former THE9 member An Qi (Babymonster An) and Smelly D 魔动闪霸. Last but certainly not the least are The Voice of China 2020 winner Shan Yichun and TVB’s Stars Academy winner Gigi Yim Ming Hay.

Developing in the Mainland

Infinity and Beyond appears to be one of the TVB’s projects to boost its presence in the Mainland more.

In recent years, the network has been trying to develop its presence in the Mainland. Remember the rumours that TVB Chief Creative Officer Wong Cho Lam quit his post recently? The network put out a statement to say that no, Wong Cho Lam didn’t quit TVB and that he was in fact working on the company’s behalf to set up several programs in the Mainland as part of TVB’s strategy to further develop in over there.
